CERTIFICATE IV IN LIBERAL ARTS (21793VIC)

This course will be offered by the Shepparton Adult & Community Education Inc. (ACE) in 2009. Enrolments will take place in January and June.

The Certificate IV in Liberal Arts and Diploma of Liberal Arts currently provides pathways from all Registered Training Organisations into a range of Higher Education courses including:

Description

This is a full-time, combined course, which aims to develop general knowledge and skills for effective participation at university in the arts and/or social sciences. It also aims to develop competencies for the workplace where advanced communications skills and a broad general knowledge are assets.

What is Liberal Arts?

Liberal Arts is a broadly based humanities course, which covers areas such as literature, history, civics, environmental issues and economics as well as communication (including information technology) and study skills. It aims to develop an understanding of some of the major issues and ideas of modern society.

The course is intended for:

ϖ Students seeking a low cost alternative pathway to tertiary study
ϖ Those wanting a program of personal enrichment
ϖ Those seeking entrance to the workplace

The skills and knowledge covered in this course are applied when studying at a university specifically when studying the humanities or allied disciplines. The course focuses on assisting students understand the nature of study in a tertiary education environment and the skills involved in learning in this environment.

ϖ Year 12 (VCE or VCAL)
ϖ Mature Age Entry or
ϖ Demonstrated capacity to study at the required level.
